Description:
This is a professional licensed Physical Therapy position that provides leadership of the Physical Therapy Department.
The role involves supervision of assigned staff and direct physical therapy care to eligible patients.
An employee in this position works closely with physical therapy staff, managers, nursing staff, clinicians, and patients with their families.
Administers physical therapy programs including training and supervising hourly and contract staff.
Develops therapy programs in accordance with physician instructions through the use of various treatment modalities.
Administers treatments such as heat, cold, manual therapy, hydrotherapy, exercise, rest, and electricity.
Observes patient progress during treatment and modifies prescribed treatment if necessary.
Consults with physicians to outline long-range programs for patients and reports progress.
Supervises clinical practice of physical therapy students and teaches exercises for home treatment.
Schedules patients for treatment and prepares periodic patient progress reports.
Responsible for the department's yearly budget and orders supplies from appropriate vendors.
Maintains regulatory requirements and actively checks and responds to emails throughout the day.
Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled.
Actively participates in the department's quality improvement activities.
Commits to confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy and regulations.
Meets dress code standards for the department and maintains a neat appearance.
Engages with the community in a positive and professional manner.
Job Knowledge & Qualifications:
Five years of practical physical therapy experience required.
Three years of management experience in a rehabilitation therapy department required.
Ability to read and interpret professional journals and governmental regulations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various forms.
