Description:
Supervises nursing services to direct nursing care in accordance with good nursing practice and applicable regulations.
Supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses.
Administers and records medications, treatments, and monitoring as ordered.
Accurately transcribes physician's orders and completes monthly summaries as scheduled.
Reviews and updates care plans with nursing assistants to reflect residents' current conditions.
Notifies the supervisor immediately of significant changes in residents' conditions.
Communicates resident transfers to immediate family and relevant departments.
Assists physicians with rounds, examinations, and treatments as needed.
Collects laboratory specimens and arranges for delivery with accurate requisitions.
Documents in the system when laboratory work is completed.
Supervises and assists with postmortem procedures and notifies relevant departments of resident deaths.
Encourages resident participation in scheduled activities.
Completes incident reports accurately or assists team members in writing reports.
Documents weights and vital signs and follows up as needed.
Maintains the treatment area in a clean and orderly condition, and submits maintenance requests as necessary.
Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy environment and reports potential safety hazards.
Adjusts staffing assignments as needed to ensure quality resident care.
Assists in the orientation of new nursing staff and assures familiarity with changes in policies and procedures.
Monitors documentation for completeness and compliance with regulations.
Provides direct care for residents as needed, within restrictions.
Attends in-services, department meetings, and committee meetings as required.
Maintains work area in a clean, orderly condition and performs housekeeping assignments as scheduled.
Maintains accurate inventory of resident belongings and documents any changes.
