Physician - Psychiatry
Shift: Day - 8x5 - 09AM
Overview:
As a member of the Psychiatry Department, you will provide both clinical and forensic psychiatric services to individuals involved with the civil and criminal justice systems.
You will conduct comprehensive assessments, provide ongoing psychiatric care, and offer evidence-based expert opinions on matters involving criminal responsibility, fitness to stand trial, capacity assessments, and violence risk evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct forensic psychiatric assessments and provide expert opinions for courts, Review Boards, and other legal authorities.
Deliver psychiatric consultations and ongoing care to forensic patients.
Assess issues related to criminal responsibility, fitness to stand trial, capacity, and risk management.
Act as a medical consultant to legal and correctional authorities.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within hospital and correctional settings.
Participate in departmental and provincial committees as required.
Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation.
Contribute to program planning, quality improvement initiatives, and service development.
Participate in the departmental on-call rotation.
