Surgical Tech - Certified Surg Tech

Hours per Shift: 10 hours

Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred

License: Surgical Technologist Certification (CST)

Certifications: Current BLS certification

Must-Have: Must have or obtain flu vaccination

Description: Scrubs in on surgical procedures under professional nurse supervision for various advanced and complex surgeries. Anticipates the surgeon's preference for materials or instruments and responds accordingly. Updates the nurse as necessary based on the continuing assessment of equipment needs and physician preferences. Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and adaptability to changing patient needs. Sets up sterile table with instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications/solutions needed for surgical procedures. Takes apart and reassembles any instrument or piece of equipment requiring cleaning and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Monitors supplies and instruments to assure the sterility of materials, enhancing quality assurance in patient care. Inventories and monitors assigned service supplies and orders as needed. Develops and implements educational programs and learning aids for the department. Provides input regarding the need for changes in policies, procedures, and patient care standards. Participates in assigned committees. Handles requests made during surgery. Additional duties as assigned.
