Description: This position is in a neuro unit. RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly lead to a cancel and DNR. The unit specializes in general medicine with a focus on neuro patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Float requirements are present. Travelers must float first when necessary. Weekend requirements include 5-6 weekend shifts, equating to every other weekend. Contract staff may be expected to participate in a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Attendance during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters may be required. All staff must adhere to the call-off policy, which is strongly enforced. Candidates must have a teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations in all interactions. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to the start of the specialty. Preferred skills include NIH certification and neuro experience. Previous charge nurse experience is preferred. Additional skills include CVA interpretation, management of dysrhythmias, and telemetry experience. The patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics. Daily census for the unit is approximately 24 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes various teams and services such as physical therapy and respiratory services. All candidates are expected to float within or near the facility as per job description.
