Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The role requires practicing in a clinical environment supported by a shared governance model. The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research. All RN Clinical Nurses must uphold the practice of nursing and implement the scope of practice and code of ethics standards. As a member of the patient services team, individuals uphold the voice of the patient and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Performs the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation in clinical care. Uses evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure individualized care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes. Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care that adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity. Partners with patients and significant others to keep them informed and focused on care goals. Practices using current clinical practice standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration to promote the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. Participates in performance improvement and supports an inclusive clinical environment. Actsively participates in shared governance at all levels in the system.

Professional Development and Initiative: Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for professional nurses and other staff or students. Models the professional practice of nursing and promotes a healthy work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. Upholds all organizational policies and procedures as well as legal and regulatory requirements. Participates in data collection and consultation to address practice questions.

Resources and Support: Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care. Participates in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes. Supports efficient and effective use of resources. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
