Description:
Unit includes Labor & Delivery and Postpartum care.
The unit has 12 Labor & Delivery beds and 4 Postpartum beds.
There are 80-100 births per year.
Ratios follow AWHONN guidelines.
Basic Fetal Monitoring is required.
Common diagnoses include Gestational Hypertension, Gestational Diabetes, and Pre-eclampsia.
RNs are required to titrate drips.
Common drips include Oxytocin, Insulin, and Epidural.
Charge Nurse or House Supervisor may be required.
OB technicians are present on this unit.
There are Cpap, Bipap, and Vent equipment available.
Telemetry is available, and RNs can read strips.
The EFM System is GE Centricity.
Shifts are from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM.
Every other weekend is required.
Holidays include either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
There is a call requirement of 3-4 shifts in a 6-week schedule.
The ability to circulate and recover Cesarean sections is preferred.
Additional notes: Experience in providing care in a postpartum setting is beneficial.
