Description:
The acute care unit consists of 16 beds.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-6 based on patient acuity.
Common patient diagnoses include lower acuity conditions such as a.fib, cellulitis, severe wounds, and falls.
There are no specialists onsite, and higher acuity patients are typically transferred out.
The unit handles a lot of swing bed patients for wound care, rehab, and long-term antibiotics.
Respiratory Therapy is available during the week with a call response time of 30 minutes.
Registered Nurses handle EKGs, breathing treatments, and BiPAP.
Scheduling is done at the management level, allowing for predictable shift assignments.
There may be weekend and holiday shift requirements based on staffing needs.
The staff is encouraged to provide flexibility in scheduling to help fill staffing gaps.
Travelers may be asked to float between different areas as needed.
Housing options in the area may be limited.
Scrubs of any color may be worn.
The unit aims to operate with minimal resources and encourages adaptability among staff.
