Description:
The RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care.
They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through shared governance.
The framework for practice is guided by professional practice models, evidence-based practice, and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by foundational values.
All RN Clinical Nurses Critical Care are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the standards of nursing practice.
They implement the scope of practice and code of ethics put forth by professional nursing associations.
As a member of the patient services team, individuals are expected to uphold the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals.

The RN performs the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation—in the delivery of clinical care.

The RN provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
They partner with patients and significant others appropriately using methods conducive to setting and purpose.

The RN coordinates and documents the delivery of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model.
They engage in diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation.

The RN completes all initial and ongoing competency assessments and mandatory education.
