Must-Have:

Required work setting experience includes Med/Surg
Required skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response
Gastrointestinal case skills including colostomy care and feeding tube management
IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including accessing ports and blood product administration
Medication experience with heparin, insulin, and PCA
Neurological and psychiatric case skills including CVA and pre/post neuro surgery
Respiratory case skills including chest tubes and tracheostomy management
Wound care and isolation precautions knowledge
Continuous bladder irrigation experience
Experience with Cerner charting
Teaching hospital experience preferred
Trauma Level II experience preferred

Description: The position is for a registered nurse in the medical surgical neuro specialty. Shifts are three 12-hour day shifts. Average daily census on the unit is 32 patients. The nurse is required to work every other weekend. First-time travelers are not accepted for this position. Candidates will float as needed within their scope to meet facility needs. Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions. RTO restrictions should ideally not exceed 5 days. The client may call off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without compensation for the canceled hours. Special requirements include extensive experience in the required skill areas. Nurses should have telemetry experience with remote monitoring. This nurse will be responsible for pre/post-operative care and emergency interventions. They will also manage and care for patients with surgical drains. Additional required experiences include administration of chemotherapy and management of complex respiratory needs. The facility utilizes Cerner for charting, and familiarity with this system is necessary. The role demands strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary support.
