Description:
We need a Licensed Practical Nurse for an acute care setting.
Candidates must have OPOR training.
Accommodation will be provided.
Within their scope of practice and in collaboration with patients and the health care team, the LPN is responsible for providing care for patients with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes.
As the acuity or complexity increases and/or outcomes are not predictable, the LPN, under the supervision of the RN, provides nursing interventions within their scope of practice.
The RN retains accountability for the assignment and/or delegation of patient care activities to the LPN, but the LPN is accountable for individual actions or practices.
The LPN complies with documentation processes as required.
Note: IV initiation and IV medication administration are now entry-level competencies in the LPN curriculum.
At present, these skills are not performed in all practice areas.
External staff who have these competencies must check with the Charge Nurse on each unit to see if they are approved for that practice area and which drugs are approved for administration by LPNs.
