Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care across the lifespan in accordance with organizational standards, policies, and evidence-based practice. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. The RN collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes, safety, and positive patient experience. The Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting, supporting individuals and families across the continuum of care. This role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, administer medications and treatments, perform clinical procedures, and provide patient education and care coordination in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams. The Ambulatory RN ensures accurate documentation, adherence to infection control and regulatory standards, and efficient clinic operations while promoting quality outcomes, patient safety, and culturally responsive care in a fast-paced ambulatory environment.

The position involves performing comprehensive patient assessments and developing individualized plans of care. Implementing and evaluating nursing interventions and patient responses is crucial. The RN administers medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy. Recognizing changes in patient condition and initiating appropriate interventions or escalation of care is essential. Providing patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs is also a key responsibility. Delivering culturally responsive, patient-centered care is a priority.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care. Facilitating referrals, follow-up care, and continuity of services is necessary. Documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record is required. Advocating for patient care and assisting patients in navigating the healthcare system is part of the role.

Practicing within nursing scope of practice and adhering to regulatory, safety, and infection prevention requirements is mandatory. Participation in quality and performance improvement activities is encouraged. The RN demonstrates professionalism, accountability, flexibility, and teamwork. Providing appropriate guidance and delegation to ancillary staff is expected. Supporting orientation, mentoring, and education of staff, students, and peers is valuable. Floating to other departments or assignments as needed may occur.

Educational qualifications include an Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Clinical competency must be achieved within 3 months and every 3 years. High-Risk Competency must also be validated within 3 months and annually thereafter.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role include knowledge of nursing principles, evidence-based practice, medication safety, and infection prevention. Strong clinical judgment, organization, prioritization, and communication skills are essential. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is critical. Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems is necessary.

Physical work requirements include the ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds. The role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, stooping, and kneeling. The RN should be able to work in a moderate-to-high noise clinical environment.

Employees are responsible for complying with safe work practices, reporting injuries and unsafe conditions, and cooperating in safety investigations.
