Experience: Minimum 3 years in an acute care hospital setting

License: Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist required

Certifications: ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification required

Must-Have: Lead or supervisory experience

Description: This is a histology tech supervisor role. Lead or supervisory experience is required. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, timecard review, and tracking metrics. Regulatory compliance is essential. Some bench duties are included. Other tasks as assigned will also be required. Supervisor pay is provided when coded as such. The unit accepts first-time travelers. The schedule includes varied start times during the day. Every other weekend is expected unless noted otherwise. There is no call requirement. Floating within facility/scope of practice may be necessary. Candidates will be reviewed by clinical to determine clinical fit. If clinically approved, candidates will be sent for final decision. Maximum request time off is 7 days per contract. Travelers are expected to work major holidays as outlined. Full compliance is required to start on time. All candidates must be compliant in a timely manner. Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate. Number of non-billable orientation hours varies by contract length. Candidates should be proficient in cutting and embedding all types of tissue. Special staining procedures must be performed as directed. Quality control checks are mandatory. Proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste is required. Candidates must have equipment experience with microtome and embedding center. Preferred procedure experience includes bronchial, esophageal, gastric, spinal, urinalysis, and various staining techniques.
