One year experience in the operating room as a Surgical Technician or Surgical Technician training required.
Description:
The Surgical Technician assists with surgical procedures through scrubbing duties.
Responsible for preparing for procedures and assisting the operative team, including preparation and maintenance of sterile supplies.
Creates and maintains a sterile field.
Inspects sterile items for contamination before opening.
Anticipates the need for equipment and supplies before the case begins.
Assures all equipment is functioning before use.
Operates and maintains mechanical, electrical, and air-powered equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
Scrubs all surgical procedures and understands the special needs, techniques, and requirements of the individual surgeon.
Has the ability to scrub specialty surgeries without the presence of a sales representative, including sports medicine and trauma.
Assists the RN with the completion of operative charge and recording of hardware used during the procedure.
Collects specimens and cultures by verifying the source and correct tissue identification with the surgeon.
