Description:
Provides direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
Follows aseptic sterile technique according to established standards.
Evaluates patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
Manages patient's pain effectively.
Anticipates case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedures performed and pathophysiology.
The recovery room has 8 beds for pre and post-operative patients.
The department includes full-time registered nurses, with some currently in orientation.
Common procedures include general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, ophthalmology, and cardioversions.
May need to float to pre-operative areas and assist with other duties when the unit is less busy.
The electronic health record system is utilized for patient documentation.
Call availability is preferred; current staff can float between pre-op and recovery room duties.
Flexibility in arrival times may be required due to daily schedule changes.
